Snapchat can be a bit intimidating for new users to the platform, and finding friends isn’t easy when you’re just starting out. But if you do have friends that use Snapchat already, it’s easy to set yourself up with the app!
Add by phone contact
Snapchat has a built-in feature to scan through your contacts and find any users that have the same email or phone number. Using this feature is the easiest because it requires almost no interaction First, tap the profile icon at the top left of your screen in the app, then tap Add Friends. Tap on Contacts and there will be an option to ‘Find Friends.’ Tapping on that will begin the process and this feature will not only walk you through it, but also do everything automatically for you.
Add by Snapcode
Because many users have rather complicated usernames that are difficult to remember, Snapchat added a feature which creates a certain code that another user can take a picture of. By scanning this code with the Snapchat app, you can add users directly without needing their username or other contact info. Get the user to open their Snapcode on their phone, open your snapchat app, point the camera at the snapcode and hold it down. After a second or two, their profile will load and you can add them there. You can also add people with pictures of snapcodes. Simply go to your Profile, tap on Contacts and there will be an option to add friends by snapcode!
Add by username
Finally, you can add users directly if you know their username. To do this, all you need is the username of the person you would like to add. The go to your Profile, tap on Contacts and search for the username. Then tap on the Add button to send them a friend request!
